I love military weddings ~ the tradition, uniforms, swords and pageantry. What is it about military weddings that make it so romantic? Maybe it’s the uniform that resembles prince charming? Or the promise of adventure within a commitment to love and cherish? I wanted to share photos from some beautiful military weddings.
I’ll start with this lovely bride and groom ~ my parents.
I love this picture. When my littler brother (also Navy) got married in uniform he wore the same uniform tie my dad wore.
The military adds some unique elements to marriage. Both advantages and challenges. My dad was told that if the Navy would have wanted sailors to have a wives – they would have issued them in their seabag. This didn’t stop my parents from marrying and most recently celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary. I think the military has come a long way to being more family friendly.
The beautiful Kayse Pratt married her Marine and had a lovely wedding in Southern California in August 2009. She writes a wonderful blog that encourages me and other women to live authentically, laugh joyfully, and love intentionally.

Air Force Wedding
Growing up as the daughter of a Army Lieutenant Colonel (ret.), my friend Marie had always dreamed about getting married at the Memorial Chapel on Fort Leavenworth. “That was the post I lived at the most growing up, and I always dreamed about getting married at Memorial Chapel, a little military chapel on post (oldest in KS or something like that!) Lo and behold, we were able to!! It was beautiful, and it was definitely a ‘military’ wedding!” The chapel is so charming and makes the perfect backdrop!!
