Every time we pass this sign Sweets announces, “Velkommen til Poulsbo”. He’s pretty much perfected his Viking accent. When we found out that we were getting stationed near Seattle we immediately pulled up the map and started looking at places to live. We are stationed in Kitsap county and for military families that move here, there’s pretty much four options: Bremerton, Silverdale, Bainbridge Island and Poulsbo. We came house hunting in May and checked out each place but ultimately decided on the Scandinavian village Poulsbo because we loved the downtown area of shops, art studios, bakeries and restaurants. We’ve heard that it’s the weekend getaway spot for the Seattle crowd. It’s only a 30 minute ferry ride into Seattle from Bainbridge Island (our next door town). It was pretty important to us to have easy access to Seattle so we can explore the city on weekends.
We’ve been super busy getting organized but took a break to appreciate this gorgeous weather. I took Ev for a walk/jog in downtown Poulsbo in our new Bob Ironman stroller I snagged off craigslist for jogging. I originally thought I would get away with not having a jogging stroller and just using our City Mini GT but as great as it is – it’s just not cut out for running – which I plan on doing more of now that we are getting settled. I bundled up Ev and leashed Apple – out we went.
The downtown area is full of charm and nostalgia. I love this red telephone booth.
This path is on the boardwalk of Liberty Bay – stunning.
More coming soon
